Exactly what it says on the tin, a very short pictorial of all the Takara Tomy Masterpiece Cybertron Cars (Autobot Cars) we've had so far displayed alongside each other in both modes. What this serves to do is show just what the potential for this series is when we finally get to Wheeljack and Bumblebee, some actual new moulds. Before we get that far though, we'll have MP-18S, the toy-accurate G1 all silver Bluestreak. That will make it 4 - 4 between the Datsuns and the Countaches, so August and MPs 20 and 21 cannot come soon enough. Oh, MP-10 Hasbro Optimus Prime is in there too. Enjoy!

Some nice group shots there Maz.
ReplyDeleteWhile I do agree with you that these new moulds can't come soon enough, I still think that with the four different colour variations for two different moulds, the variations in colours are distinct enough, for me at least, to provide enough separation between the characters.
Keep up the good posts!
Cheers,
Joe
Thanks Joe! You are right, each release is distinct enough to warrant a place - although many will argue with you on that point when it comes to MP-18S Tokyo Toy Show Exclusive silver Streak :)

I'm actually looking forward to the silver Streak, oddly enough. I just really want to display him next to my G1 Bluestreak.
DeleteI agree with you, I think it'll be lovely with those red launchers and all silver appearance. WHo knows what other nice touches they will add, after all Tigertrack from the same show last year received G1 sticker-like tampos on his feet.
DeleteI imagine we might get G1 sticker like tampos on Streak's waist and shoulders? Maybe even a sticker sheet.

I suspect there may be a bit of "pay it forward" going on here, since the Wheeljack and Bumblebee molds have fewer redeco opportunities than these guys. The Datsun mold has added the Silverstreak variant and could easily still do a blue Bluestreak, while the Lambo mold still has the likes of Clamp Down and Deep Cover available without wandering into fantasy space (e.g.: an SG Sideswipe). On the other hand, the Wheeljack mold seems to be limited to Wheeljack himself and a Marlboor variant, while Bumblebee is limited to G1 yellow and red and G2 Bumblebees. Hound and Mirage, for example, are in a similar boat.
ReplyDeleteFewer traditional ones, at least, since obviously, this doesn't rule out the left-field redecoes like YOTH Optimus Prime and EVA Mode Convoy (maybe they'll do a Movie/Animated-style black-with-yellow "Stealth" redeco of MP-21).
We've possibly already seen this with the multiple re-uses of the MP-1 mold possibly funding the single-character, single-deco MP-5 Megatron figure.
Personally, I don't object to the multiple redecoes like the Lambos and Datsuns, if it increases the likelihood of great new new Masterpiece molds.
