Recent Departures - November 2014

It's been a very long time since I've done a "Recent Departures" post, because I had not sold anything of significance after the Finnish Black Tracks some months ago. Even then, it was a loose broken extra, not my collection specimen. After amassing nearly all of Animated in a short while and expanded further into MP, 3P and Generations/FOC, my gaze once again turned to real life and more Diaclone had to go in order to bring my family and I closer to affording a property.

So, out of the door has just flown only the 3rd ever packaged Finnish Microman Browning I've ever seen - and easily the best specimen since it actually had the Finnish instructions. None of the other two have that. I paid handsomely for that Browning but what I've sold it for perfectly reflects its rarity, condition and value to the right collector who appreciates just what an artifact of history it is. Appropriate compensation for selling one of the key pieces of my vintage collection, one of the few things that made my collection stand out still. (Non article)

I have also sold the above GiG Ligier, the Italian release of Diaclone pre-Mirage. This item was a gift from a friend and we agreed to split the funds made. Being a Mirage enthusiast, this is one of the more special versions of the vintage toy available, unique stickers and all that. The toy was gem mint as well, completely unused. The price of such figures continues to rise with every year, so you either have to be one of those collectors who is willing to spend heavily for the quality of their collection, or be one of those who bought them years ago and held onto them for years and years. I am now officially neither. (Non article)

Also sold an incomplete Ceji Joustra Diaclone Ambulance that I was hoping was a variant from the 2 stamp variants I already have. It wasn't. No great loss!

For anyone interested in other vintage Diaclone goodies I have for sale, and my other crap, see here.

All the best

  1. Such a striking piece. I personally found it in some ways more memorable than the black stingray.

Three known specimens... Would that make it rarer than the vanette and the fire truck ?

    1. Well so far there have been 4 boxed Stingrays, 3 boxed Fire Trucks found, 3 boxed Brownings, 2 boxed Ligiers, 2 boxed Vanettes and 1 boxed Truck Crane.

  2. Would you say the 2nd hardest-to-find ligier is the slanted-stamp Joustra in MB box ? - or would that honor go to the Ligier-tampo GiG ? (I guess we can leave out the obviously-rare red ligier and the yellow KO ligier.)

Then there's the non-Ligier (ie. Citane-tampo) in a GiG box in the tfw2005 diaclone group gallery. Do you think it's legit ? (The same person also has a red wrecker in a GiG box, which, if legit, is also news to me.)

    1. I think the second hardest Ligier for me to find has been the Takara Co Ltd + dates Joustra Diaclone Ligier. I've seen one only and my friend grabbed it. I think it;s because those later stamp variants all ended up in MB boxes, so you'll find a fair few MB Mirages with that stamp, just not Ceji Joustra.
